The contributions of volunteers is essential to the chapter achieving its mission. We offer training classes and extensive documentation and support networks, all designed to help the people whose job it is to help. Fill out our volunteer information request form if you'd like to help out.

Pick up equipment from storage area, deliver it to assigned destination, and assemble equipment (if necessary).

Support and companionship (i.e., reading, writing letters, assist with feeding, light housekeeping, etc.). Volunteer will report any concerns or equipment needs to the volunteer coordinator. No physical work is expected (i.e., lifting, toileting) unless mutually agreed upon by volunteer and the person with ALS and caregiver.

Home Adaptations: handle and carry lumber, construct ramp and/or make home adaptations, clean up, and submit a report. Home Maintenance: painting, gardening, yard work, washing windows, etc.

Contact person with ALS on a routine basis, report any needs or concerns to the volunteer coordinator for follow-up.

Contact a person with ALS by telephone or in person. Act as an additional contact between service coordinator and person with ALS. Report any special needs or concerns to the service coordinator for follow-up. Submit reports when needed.

You can contribute critical help such as gathering gifts for an auction, finding sponsors and underwriters, or encouraging others to participate in fund-raising events.

You can write letters requesting donations, or visit corporations and foundations with us to help them understand our needs and encourage their giving.

You can also speak to community groups and the media to help them understand ALS and the needs of those who live with it.
